Concord Hotels employed the services of Nigel to work with me and to assist in the development of their organisation. At the time we were suffering from falling membership numbers, poor recruitment and retention figures and a training officer that lacked direction and morale. Talbot Hotel

Gross margins have improved considerably since August and are beginning to look respectable, although more to do. Wage costs are now more under control. Still lots to do but things have turned around strongly, we are seeing turnover up over 50% year on year on better margins. The locals are now back on side and our wet trade is recovering strongly whilst food sales and group bookings are also very good… Staff costs now under control and margins pretty acceptable. Had a customer service day for all staff today, it went down really well and they are beginning to come up with ideas and suggestions. Cutting hours down came with the message “more business more work” with staff feeling more sense of ownership now, so lots done but still a very long list.

Nigel Messenger has worked and volunteered for The Poppy Factory for a number of years as both a Trustee and a consultant.
